Karen was called to the Alberta bar in 2005, and worked as an associate and partner at Bennett Jones LLP until 2018, when she founded Legal Sneakers. Her experience spans the corporate legal needs and life cycles of both public and private entities, and includes extensive board experience. Karen is originally a farm girl from Saskatchewan and has had the great fortune in her life of working at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica, spending two years teaching English in Ecuador, and volunteering in Ghana, South Africa and Cambodia. In addition to her legal work Karen is involved in her community and volunteers with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society.
