Our people are everything.

Karen Keck

Founder & Managing Director

Karen is a corporate commercial lawyer with 18 years of in-depth experience in the Calgary business community. Karen’s lifelong passion is helping others achieve their dreams. This passion ultimately drove Karen to start Legal Sneakers, a boutique law firm where Alberta’s startup community can obtain sophisticated legal advice and services to build, run and grow their businesses. Karen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Calgary. Karen was called to the Alberta bar in 2005, and worked as an associate and partner at Bennett Jones LLP until 2018, when she founded Legal Sneakers. Her experience spans the corporate legal needs and life cycles of both public and private entities, and includes extensive board experience.  Karen is originally a farm girl from Saskatchewan and has had the great fortune in her life of working at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica, spending two years teaching English in Ecuador, and volunteering in Ghana, South Africa and Cambodia. In addition to her legal work Karen is involved in her community and volunteers with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society.

There is no group that we would rather serve.

We love being part of, and working with, a group of people that think outside the box, are passionate about finding a better way, and courageous enough to make their ideas a reality.

It would be our privilege to represent you, and we can’t wait to get started!
